Hello, I hope you've had a great week.

I want to start by saying thank you so much for all the messages of support that I received from last Friday onwards after Hidden Secrets came out. Publication days are always a mixed bag. You want your next book to be well received, but you also wait in trepidation for readers to let you know what they think of it!

The day itself is lovely as I often get messages from people who see my posts and reconnect. When Hidden Secrets went live last Friday, I had a message from someone I'd worked with when I was eighteen, who had loved all the Allie Shenton books. It's things like that which make this journey so special.

Because it is a journey - and who would have thought that my next book will be my twenty-fifth? Not me, for sure.

This is the messiest my desk gets - scraps of paper everywhere - before I tidy it up and start the next book.

As you can see, I'm back at my desk. I'm ten thousand words into the next book and just getting the feel of it. The next Allie Shenton murder investigation will be published in September. I can't wait to show you the cover and reveal the title soon.

What I've been watching

I went to see Top Gun Maverick on Wednesday, and had a little nostalgia trip back to my twenties when the first film came out. I don't want to say too much as I don't like to be negative, so let's just say I enjoyed the first film far better...

But then there was the return of Stranger Things for its fourth and penultimate season. I am six episodes in and will watch the final episode this evening and I can't wait!

I was late to Stranger Things, thinking I wouldn't like it, as I'm not a fan of horror. But when I started watching it, I loved everything about it. It had the geeks, the best friends, the love triangles, teenage angst (which I love), scary monsters, and the dress code and music of the eighties. I was hooked.

I can't wait for tonight's final show, but I will be bereft that I have to wait so long for the next series to come out. I suppose that's like finishing a book in a series and waiting for the next instalment too.

Tomorrow evening I won't have time to watch anything as I'm going to see Robbie Williams in concert in my home city. That was postponed from 2020 too.

Then it will be back to the words.

Before I go... The Life She Wants is only 99p in the UK as part of the Kindle June Monthly Sale.

Have a great week.

A huge thank you – and what’s next…
