Today, I welcome bestselling author, LJ Ross to the blog. Not only has she sold over 4.5 million books as an independent author, but I am honoured to know her personally and she is the nicest person and truly inspirational.
Hi Lousie, can you describe your latest novel in one sentence.
HYSTERIA is an atmospheric, twisty thriller set in the glamorous Parisian fashion world.
What three words would you use to describe yourself?
Loving, loyal and idealistic.
What is your main character called? What three words would you use to describe them?
I have two main characters – Dr Alexander Gregory, who is enigmatic, troubled and insightful; and DCI Max Ryan, who is heroic, fearless and protective.
Can you tell us one positive and one negative trait of your main character?
They are both tirelessly hardworking, which is both a positive and a negative.
What inspired you to write crime fiction?
A desire to create happy endings to sad tales, to explore the whole spectrum of human character traits and to create a story that allows readers to escape their ordinary lives.
Who is your favourite crime author? (and why)
Jim Thompson, because of his ability to convey a depth of emotion, texture and setting in very few words.
What is your favourite book of theirs?
The Killer Inside Me
Who is your favourite crime character or duo – film, TV, play or book (and why?)
Always David Suchet as Hercule Poirot – enjoyable every time!
Finally, tell me one weird and wonderful fact about yourself.
When I was a little girl, I wanted to be an adventuring archaeologist – just like Indiana Jones. I still plan to, in my spare time…
You can find out more about Lousie and her books at her website and here is the blurb for HYSTERIA:
Recently returned from his last case in Ireland, elite forensic psychologist and criminal profiler Dr Alexander Gregory receives a call from the French police that he can’t ignore. It’s Paris fashion week and some of the world’s most beautiful women are turning up dead, their faces slashed in a series of frenzied attacks while the world’s press looks on.
Amidst the carnage, one victim has survived but she’s too traumatised to talk. Without her help, the police are powerless to stop the killer before he strikes again – can Gregory unlock the secrets of her mind, before it’s too late?
Murder and mystery are peppered with dark humour in this fast-paced thriller set amidst the spectacular Parisian landscape.
