I’m over the moon to announce that my psychological thriller, Watching over You, described as relentless and darkly claustrophobic, has been optioned by Great Point Media. It’s been a long-held ambition of mine to have something made for screen and, even though this is a small step on a long road, it’s great to finally be on the journey.

Watching Over You has sold just under 100,000 copies and follows Charley Belington who, after the death of her husband and unborn child, sells the family home and moves into a new flat. Her landlady, Ella seems like the perfect friend and confidante but she is fighting her own dark and dirty demons, sending her spiralling down into madness—and unspeakable obsessions. I always liken this book to ‘Single White Female meets Fatal Attraction.’

Great Point Media have worked on shows and features such as Lady Macbeth, The Confirmation, Damaged, Line of Duty (featuring my favourite actress Vicky McClure) and Doc Martin.

I was blown away yesterday when my agent, Madeleine Milburn, posted the news. Not only was this the first novel that she represented me for, but I was inundated with messages of congratulations. There were over 400 across Facebook and Twitter, ranging from friends and family to loyal readers, plus so many authors who I admire. It was extremely humbling, so if you took the time, thank you. It meant so much to me.

Fingers crossed Mel, It would be great if they turned it into a gritty drama. Vicky McClure – How deviously scary was she in the Replacement? She’d make a great Charley Belington.

Thanks, Jonathan. Yes, I reckon Vicky McClure could play any number of characters in my books. I wouldn’t mind which one!

Buongiorno. Maria Angela Nocco from Genova
