Victoria station T&M books 4A strange thing happened this week. I started getting tweets from people about my paperbacks, TAUNTING THE DEAD and WATCHING OVER YOU, being seen around train stations and airports. So far, there have been photos from Liverpool, Manchester and lots in London train stations, plus at Gatwick Airport. WH Smith have taken a few titles from Thomas & Mercer to sell in their outlets. This is a fantastic feeling.

photo copyWhen I signed my first two book deal with Amazon Publishing last year, at the time I accepted that my books might never hit the shops, so I didn’t expect to see them anywhere. However, being published traditionally meant that this year I have appeared at several literary festivals, including one which was in my home town of Stoke-on-Trent. Shortly after this, I then found out that my local book shop, Webberley’s, and Waterstones Hanley had my books in stock, and that they may be stocked by Waterstones regionally too.

It’s great to see them out there, especially now that I have another two-book deal with Thomas & Mercer, with both books, FOLLOW THE LEADER and ONLY THE BRAVE, set in my city due to come out next year.

Imagine my surprise to see it mentioned in The Bookseller

Let’s hope that readers are asking for my books and that’s why they are being stocked locally because… I’ve just finished editing FOLLOW THE LEADER, which comes out spring 2015 and is set all around Stoke-on-Trent. As well as a few fictional places, there’s mention of Sentinel House, Mitchell Arts Centre, Tower Square in Tunstall, a fictional high school called Reginald High, a grand finale at Stoke Railway Station and, of course, Staharrogateffordshire Oatcakes get a mention.

I value all the local support I get too, so a special thanks must go to everyone who gives me a shout-out.

It’s all happening out there…
